Bathrooms age faster than any other room in a Florida house. Humidity, hard water and decades of daily use wear down grout, caulk and the subfloor under the tile. In Plantation, where many homes are thirty, fifty or seventy years old, we often open a bathroom and find it has been patched more than once. Our job is to rebuild it the right way, from the framing and waterproofing out to the fixtures.
We remodel hall baths, guest baths and primary suites, and we can help with design and permits. For a sense of what a finished room can look like, photos from our Plantation project show a primary bathroom with a freestanding tub, a wood-slat accent wall, a large walk-in glass shower and a double vanity. More on how we approach this work is on our bathroom remodeling page.
Plenty of Plantation homes have a tub nobody has used in years, or a large garden tub taking up half the primary bath. Converting that space to a walk-in shower is one of the most requested changes we make. We plan the drain location, the slope of the floor and the glass panels so water stays where it belongs, and we can add a built-in bench or a niche for bottles while the walls are open.
A single sink cabinet with one drawer does not work for two people getting ready at the same time. Where the room allows, we fit a double vanity or a wider single with more drawers. Floating vanities make a small bathroom feel larger and are easier to clean under. We also look at the mirror, the medicine cabinet and the lighting above them, since that is where most of the daily routine happens.

The part of a bathroom remodel that matters most is hidden behind the tile. We use a proper waterproofing membrane on shower walls and floors, slope the shower pan correctly, and check the subfloor for soft spots from old leaks. Skipping these steps is how a new bathroom starts showing stains on the ceiling below or loose tiles a few years later. Doing them right is how it stays solid.
If you plan to stay in your home for a long time, or a parent is moving in, small choices make a big difference. A low or curbless shower entry, blocking in the walls for grab bars, a comfort height toilet, slip resistant tile and a handheld shower head all fit into a normal remodel. They do not have to look clinical, and they are far easier to add now than later.

Plantation has homes from nearly every decade since the late 1940s, and each era has its own bathroom story. In Plantation Park, where many houses date to the 1950s, bathrooms are small and the tile may be set in a thick mortar bed. Those rooms can be beautiful once updated, but they take more demolition, and the plumbing behind them is often older than the homeowner. We plan for that up front so it does not turn into a surprise halfway through.
Homes in Jacaranda and Jacaranda Lakes were mostly built from the 1970s through the 1990s. Here we see fiberglass tub and shower combinations, cultured marble vanity tops, mirrored walls and the large garden tubs that were popular in that period. Most owners want a bigger shower, better lighting and a vanity with real storage. These communities often have associations with rules about contractor hours, parking and dumpster placement, so we plan the schedule and deliveries to work within them.
Lauderdale West is a 55 and over community, and bathroom work there usually centers on safety and ease of use: walk-in showers, grab bar blocking and wider clear space around the toilet. Out in Plantation Acres, where lots are large and homes are bigger, primary suites are a different scale, and we often deal with long plumbing runs and rooms large enough for a freestanding tub and a separate shower. Areas we work in include:
If the work moves plumbing, changes the shower or tub, adds electrical or touches walls, it generally needs a permit from the city's building department. Cosmetic work like painting or swapping a mirror usually does not. We can help with the permit process and inspections so the job is on record and done to code.
Yes, this is one of the most common changes we make. We remove the tub, move or adjust the drain, build a sloped and waterproofed shower floor, and tile the walls. You can choose a low curb or a curbless entry, frameless glass, a bench and niches for storage. We check the space during our visit and explain what fits.
If your home has a second bathroom, you will use that one while we work. If it is the only bathroom in the house, tell us early. We plan the order of work to keep the toilet usable for as many days as possible and give you clear notice about the days when it has to be out of service.
Yes. We can build a shower with little or no curb, add solid blocking for grab bars, install a comfort height toilet, use slip resistant tile and add a handheld shower head and better lighting. These features blend into a modern design, and building them in during a remodel costs far less effort than retrofitting later.
Think about what bothers you most in the current bathroom and how you use it every day. Do you want a tub, a shower, or both? How much storage do you need? Save a few photos of bathrooms you like. That gives us enough to have a useful conversation during the visit and start shaping a plan.
A good bathroom remodel should look great and hold up to Florida humidity for a long time. If you are also thinking about the kitchen, see our Plantation kitchen remodeling page. Call us at (954) 318-2322 to set up a visit. We are available Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.
